Every month, we bring you the top Seattle tech events. For the month of August, there are some great networking and educational events for entrepreneurs and founders alike. Check out our top picks below, then head over to our blog to catch up on everything tech-related in the Greater Seattle Area.

When you are trying to grow your startup, you may need to seek outside funding. While 92+% of Angel Investments are made through an exemption called REG D 506(b), there are other exemptions which make it possible to sell either equity or debt for your startup. This event will explore alternative ways to raise capital from Revenue Redemption to Crowdfunding. Luni Libes from Fledge.co will be on hand to breakdown the 40+ investments he has made with the Revenue Redemption model.
Each month, New Tech Tacoma meets up and brings together the smart, fun, creative people from across the full spectrum of the Seattle and Tacoma area tech community. This month, we’ll hear presentations from Dann Ledwick, Joe Hafner, and Monique Courcy. Our presenters will be discussing how to sell your freelance creative services, what’s happening with marketing automation stacks and how they can help your company, and how teens can engage deeply with the arts, respectively.

This is a great opportunity to make connections, enjoy food and drinks, learn about new companies doing cool things, and have a fun night out. Come hear speakers talk about a variety of subjects, ranging from lessons on visual storytelling, scaling artificial intelligence, and aligning business investments to goals. And most importantly, you’ll discover the people, partners, organizations, and resources to help you to take your tech career or company to the next level.
When you start the journey to taking outside investment, your startup will need to gather materials for that conversation. You will need more than a pitch deck to secure an investment. What are the documents that you will be asked for? A cashflow projection? Sales Funnel Metrics? Articles of incorporation? Establish a process to collect and manage an up to date collection of the core documents and materials you will be expected to provide while your startup is in the Due Diligence process.
Come out for an interactive workshop with Bill Bryant from DFJ and discuss trends in startup financing, angel investing and venture capital. With over $150M raised in venture capital, Bill is an expert in startup funding and investing. In addition to his DFJ investments, Bill is an active angel investor with investments in Winshuttle, LiquidPlanner, Limeade, Bonanza, and Socrata.
There is a lot of discussion on the network about the number of women investors, women entrepreneurs and the percentages of which get funded by whom. What are the experiences of women investors and entrepreneurs in Seattle? How are things going for them? What are the ways that things are succeeding? What are the ways that there is added friction? Come explore how Women Angel Investors and Women Entrepreneurs are experiencing the Angel Investing process in Seattle.
The lack of diversity in the tech industry is a complex issue that can be traced to culture, education, and economics. We’ll take a deep dive into how early stage investments influence the tech ecosystem more broadly and discuss specific strategies investors can use to analyze and optimize their portfolio. We’ll discuss the connections between founding teams, the hiring pipeline, and market economics in order to better understand the leverage investors have to maximize their financial and social return.
Attending networking events and workshops is a great way to network with other professionals and learn valuable skills. However, the best way to jumpstart your company and accelerate your growth is in a shared office space. In the right tech ecosystem, you’ll have an easier time hiring top talent, expanding your network, and even securing the next round of funding.
