such as Big Data, AI, and ML that require a new infrastructure and storage design to achieve scale and performance in an agile and secure way. Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) provides persistent block storage volumes for use with Amazon EC2 instances in the AWS Cloud, and is focused on solving these customer issues through deployment of a massively scaled distributed storage system. We are actively exploring the storage space to provide new classes of block storage focused on building better optimized storage for applications than is done in today’s conventional storage stacks. This talk will walk through some of the hard problems in this space, and how Amazon EBS delivers customer and application focused innovation. For example, in a world of massively scalable Big Data clusters (e.g. Hadoop, etc), what are the key issues to optimize for in a storage infrastructure? What does it take to launch large clusters, at cloud scale?
Come to learn about hard problems that Amazon EBS is solving for our customers, see a cool demo, and learn how NVMe and NVMe fabrics aren’t the future – they’re here today
Speaker: Marc Olson – Marc is a Principal Engineer within the EBS team. He’s worked within EBS since before time was invented, so the exact amount of time he’s been here is undefined. Regardless, his role as chief bottlewasher has helped drive EBS to the large distributed storage solution that it is today.
